Broken SectsHe was a boy of broken sex (sects) with the lips and breath of a smoker.
His mother was a daffodil, sometimes considered a weed. He always
considered her a weed. He adored her yellowed petals, yet she had
a habit of popping up where she wasn’t needed, wasn’t wanted.
Her money talks to gentlemen, but can only whisper to her son.

He was a boy of unwanted talents in a winter of Chicago. Mother
scolds the dreams in his outstretched palms, shoving them away

She was thirteen-years-young or getting there, standing quiet by the rush of traffic and breath. Her milky legs stretched on for days and her skin rippled against the current of a morning winter breeze. Her hair was a mess of browns and bokeh, and the snow sprinkled across the wilted grass matched her hands.

She waited [each morning she waited] and I watched. Every day I watched, my serrated breaths fogging the glass.
